QR Codes Launch in Vancouver Real Estate Advertising

In the same way that websites, then MySpace URLs, and more recently Facebook pages started appearing in TV, magazine and newspapers ads, we're starting to see more "QR Codes" appear in traditional advertisementsA QR code or otherwise known as quick response code is a 2-D barcode that can be scanned by a smart phone's camera and transfer information. Based on the type of code it is, it might direct the viewer to a website, make a phone call, deliver a vCard or more.

QR codes are fairly new in North America but widely used in Japan, so many people won't recognize them when they see them or won't have a smart phone with a QR reader installed, which limits their impact. Most current advertisements that use QR codes still have to explain how they work, and the steps the person has to take to access this additional information.

Real Estate Weekly a source for weekly real estate advertising in the Greater Vancouver Neighbourhoods has just announced the integration of QR Codes for their advertisers. This technology within the Real estate industry is recognized as a tremendous opportunity for instant access to information especially for the tech savvy consumers of today.

To download a QR code reading application for your smart phone (phone, visit the App Store located on your device and search for QR Code.  There are numerous applications offered by various companies which all serve the general purposes for free.  The current application I am using is "ScanLife".  After the application is downloaded simply use your camera to scan the QR Code and your on your way to the intended destination.
