Built Green™ BC Receives Grant from BC Real Estate Foundation
To support the development of the Built Green™ BC Renovation Training Program, CHBA BC has been awarded a financial grant from the BC Real Estate Foundation. The Real Estate Foundation of BC aims to be a pivotal connection in making land use knowledge and practice in BC a model for the world, aligning resources and leading learning relating to sustainable land use practices. The Foundation provides grant funding for projects that support their mission by demonstrating: innovation and leadership, partnership and collaboration, sustainability/longevity; and scalability/replicability.
For the Built Green™ BC Program, “The Governors of the REFBC are supportive of practical professional education to support greater energy efficiency features and other “green” practices in the construction and renovation of single family dwellings in BC. We recognize the value of a certification program for home builders in BC and wish you success in developing the program.”
The Built Green™ Renovation course will cover the detailed practices of renovating a home to comply with new Green BC Building Code (release in 2011). The course will cover building science issues, how to effectively renovate home to be more energy efficient, and how to market Built Green renovated homes to home buyers.
CHBA BC is looking for additional funding partners to help fulfil the development of this critical education program for the renovation sector. To participate in the development of this important course, please contact Michelle Ripoli at CHBA BC, firstname.lastname@example.org.
